The Great Quail Adventure

As of last night, six quail have hatched.  they are tiny, lively and cute.  The reason for raising quail is the feed to meat ratio.  I guess they convert grass and bugs into meat a lot quicker and more efficiently than chickens.  I am excited to see how this works out.  I think we butcher them in about a month.

  1. I can't believe how small they are! I look forward to seeing them as they grow.

  2. It sure is hard to think of these as food when they are this cute. I'm waiting for my chicks to "ugly up"...it will make it much easier!

  3. LOL at Kim- I guess those sweet little things would have to "ugly up" before you'd eat them. That's why animals like pigs are easy to butcher. They are super sweet as babies but as they get bigger and a little uglier, and a whole lot stinkier it makes it easier! ;)
