Recipe for converting an unused playhouse into a chicken coop!

Take one old playhouse (cost - nothing)
Add one creative sister (cost - priceless)
Mix in one handy brother in law (totally awesome)
Some old chicken wire and some screws (happen to have on hand)
Blend with one useless swing frame (and cut it to size to fit down garden rows)
With a hubby who knows how to use old stuff (and make it new)
Mix the house and frame together with a grin
Ta-Da!  You now have one movable chicken coop...
Great for fertilizing, worm eating and weed control
while your little roosters get ready for the freezer!

Next little house - a house for mama hen and babies :)

  2. My sister has more ideas than can be packed into a lifetime :) This was a particularly good one. She scored two more houses from a church today.... just ready to go to the dump.

    I was pretty excited.

  4. I'm glad I found it too! Baby Violet will be here soon and I am sure I will need to work it hard.

Check out old churches. I'm looking for 3-4 more. It is good for about 4-6 chickens.

  5. So creative! We will be moving our 6 chickens to the Sargo farm in a few weeks & I'm sure they will love all the green food (as will I).

  6. I know this is an old post, but I did a search looking for this very thing and found you! What did you do for nesting boxes? What did you use for roosts?

  8. We ended up wiring some branches through the windows at an angle, and used an old bee hive box for a nesting box (just put it on the ground. This is designed to move around and just be for a couple of chickens. A great way to hide a few (girls) in an urban backyard as well :)

We now have three of these, but are not using them at this time. We use them when we need.

    Good luck to you!
